| Adult pronunciation practice shouldn’t feel like kindergarten |
It happened to me more than once. A student would be doing beautifully with vocabulary, grammar, and real conversation... and then hit a wall on something as basic as the difference between a short “i” and a long "e" or on how to blend two letters into a single new sound. So I did what any tutor would do: I went looking for a clear, simple resource I could point them to.
And that’s where the trouble started.
The Gap Nobody Talks About

| The search that came up short |
Almost everything I found on alphabetical sounds and phonics was built for children. Bright colors, cartoon animals, sing-song voices, and worksheets with crayons in the corner. None of it was wrong, exactly—it's just not built for a 30‑year‑old professional trying to sound more confident in a client meeting or a parent trying to read bedtime stories with clearer pronunciation.
Adult learners don’t need less content. They need the same fundamentals — delivered at an adult pace, with adult examples, without feeling like they’ve been handed a kindergarten worksheet.
So I made the video I wish I’d found.
What’s In the Video
It's the phonics lesson you probably never got as an adult.
That's it. No long explanations, no confusing rules, no pressure to get everything perfect. Just the clear foundation you need to start pronouncing English words with more confidence.
If you're an adult learner working on your pronunciation or a fellow tutor who's tired of digging through children's content for something you can actually use, this one's for you.
“For the first time, I understood where the sound actually comes from in my mouth. That video changed the way I practice—and after two weeks, my colleagues stopped asking me to repeat myself.”
— An adult learner who finally feels heard
Why Phonics Still Matters for Adults
Phonics isn’t just for children learning to read. It’s the foundation of clear pronunciation and confident spoken English for adults, too.
Many adult learners were never taught the mechanics of sound production—where the tongue goes, how the lips shape the sound, or whether the sound is voiced or unvoiced. They picked up English through conversation, reading, and exposure, but nobody ever stopped to show them, “Here is where that sound lives in your mouth.”
When you understand the mechanics, the mystery disappears. You finally know why you keep saying “ship” instead of “sheep,” and you can correct it yourself. That’s the difference between memorising pronunciation and actually owning it.
Who This Is For
This video is for three groups of people:
Adult English learners who want to strengthen their pronunciation without feeling talked down to
Tutors and teachers looking for a resource they can confidently share with adult students
Parents brushing up alongside their kids, since many of these same sounds come up in phonics work with teens and younger learners, too
If you fall into any of these categories, I made this for you.
Learn Without Limits, Grow Without Pressure
This is really what VeeGig Coaching is about — meeting learners where they actually are, not where the “standard” materials assume they are. If this video helped, or if you’ve hit the same wall with a student or yourself, I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Your story might be the reason someone else finally feels less alone.
If you want to go beyond the video and work on your pronunciation one‑on‑one, that’s exactly what I do in my conversational English coaching sessions. We’ll focus on your specific sound challenges, build real‑world speaking confidence, and make sure you leave every session feeling more capable than when you arrived.

You don’t have to figure out English pronunciation on your own. Whether you want to master the sounds from this video, prepare for the IELTS speaking test, or just finally feel comfortable in everyday conversations, I’m here to help.
